Throughout my day today, “Give Thanks” played over and over inside of me (“Give thanks with a grateful heart,” Henry Smith © Copyright 1978 Integrity’s Hosanna! Music)
….. As I swept acorns, planted tulips, weeded the flower bed, folded laundry, ironed clothes, and cleaned the house.
So, I sat and explored what the scriptures say about giving thanks:
Psalm 100:4: Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name. (NKJV)
Psalm 105:1: Oh, give thanks to the LORD! Call upon His name; Make known His deeds among the peoples! (NKJV)
Psalm 107:1: O give thanks to the LORD, for He is good; For His compassion and loving kindness endure forever! (Amplified)
Psalm 118:29: Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good; For His mercy is everlasting. (NASB)
1 Chronicles 16:34: Oh give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever! (ESV)
Psalm 136:2: Give thanks to the God of gods, For His faithfulness is everlasting. (NASB)
1 Corinthians 15:57: But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. (ESV)
1 Thessalonians 5:18: Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus. (NLT)
Colossians 3:17: And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father. (NLT)
Indeed, this day – and each day – let us live with thankful and grateful hearts; in all circumstances, for He is Good.
Happy Thanksgiving!
